List of Zatch Bell! episodes |
The episodes of the first season of the Zatch Bell! anime, known as Konjiki no Gash Bell!! (金色のガッシュベル!!, lit. 'Golden Gash Bell!!) in Japan, are directed by Tetsuji Nakamura and Yukio Kaizawa and produced by Toei Animation. The series was aired on Fuji TV in Japan.[1] They are based on Makoto Raiku's Konjiki no Gash!! (金色のガッシュ!!, lit. Golden Gash!!)manga series, and adapt the 1st through 11th volumes of the manga over fifty episodes. The plot follows Kiyo Takamine and his Mamodo (魔物, Mamono, lit. 'demon') partner Zatch Bell's adventures in a tournament that will decide the ruler of the Mamodo world.
The season began airing on April 6, 2003, in Japan on Fuji TV and ended on March 28, 2004.[2] The English adaptation of the Konjiki no Gash Bell!! is licensed by Viz Media, and aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami block and the Canadian television network YTV.[3][4] The episodes were collected into seventeen DVD compilations by Shogakukan and released between November 19, 2003, and April 20, 2005.[5][6] The dubbed episodes of the first season of Zatch Bell! were later collected and released in thirteen DVD compilations by Viz Media between November 8, 2005, and December 4, 2007.[7][8]
The episodes use four pieces of theme music: one opening themes and two closing themes in the original Japanese episodes and one theme used for the opening and ending in the dubbed episodes. Itools 10.7.5. The Japanese opening theme is 'Kasabuta' (カサブタ, lit. 'Scab') by Hidenori Chiwata until episode 50 and used again for the final episode.[9] The first Japanese ending theme is 'Personal' by Aya Ueto until episode 30.[9] The second Japanese ending theme is 'Stars' by King for the rest of the season.[10] The English opening and ending theme is 'Zatch Bell! Theme' by Thorsten Laewe and Greg Prestopino.[11]
An insert entitled Boku wa koko ni Iru (ぼくはここにいる, lit. Dr fone toolkit for android. 'I'm here') by Rino was used in the 22nd episode of Gash Bell.[12]
