Game Details: Welcome to the “Revolt” for Mac game page. This page contains information + tools how to port the free Re-Volt in a few simple steps (that even a noob can understand) so you can play it on your Mac using Crossover. Crossover makes it possible to play Windows on your Mac with just a few clicks! Re-Volt is a radio control car racing themed video game developed by Acclaim Studios London and published by Acclaim Entertainment in 1999 originally for the PlayStation, PC and Nintendo 64, with a Dreamcast port releasing later in the year.A sequel, titled RC Revenge was later released for the.
In the world of toy publishing, few toys can match the speed of Toy-Volt's success with its line of remote-controlled (R/C) cars.
Acclaim brought the fun of R/C racing to Re-Volt, which boasts great gameplay and high replayability despite some AI quirks. The game lets you control over 28 Toy-Volt's R/C cars (plus 5 secret ones) and race them on 13 mostly inventive tracks.
To begin with, the level design in Re-Volt is fantastic, featuring realism rarely seen before in this genre. My favorite level, 'Toys in the Hood,' has you racing around the streets, avoiding parked cars, taking shortcuts through open doors and across sidewalks. Other tracks allow you to race inside a department store, a famous cruise liner, and a wild west town. Most tracks have two different routes built in, and winning any of the four Championships allows you to unlock new tracks and cars and replay the tracks in both reverse and mirror modes.
There is even a 'stunt arena' that is great for practice, since it requires more and more dexterity to reach each of the twenty pickups that are placed at the top of various jumps, loops, and half-pipes. And when you get bored of the included tracks, you can dabble with the included track editor to make your own.
The selection of cars is excellent, boasting cars that are different in more ways than just their looks. The cars are split into two categories (Electric, and Glow) and are then divided between Rookie, Amateur, Advanced, Semi-Pro, and Pro, based mainly on speed. Each car has its own weight, acceleration, and top speed. Although you can pick up weapons and power-ups on the tracks similar to arcade games, Re-Volt is much more realistic than arcade racers. The cars behave very realistically, and the physics engine is excellent. But if you prefer arcade-style racing over realism, you can change the car behavior mode from 'Simulation' to the very forgiving 'Junior RC.'
With excellent graphics, great gameplay, and a longevity that is much higher than most racing games, Re-Volt is a fun game that will please racers of all ages. Although the computer AI can use some help (I pass computer-controlled cars that become amusingly 'stuck' in scenery on more than one occasion), the game offers enough beauty and brains to satisfy everyone - including a few multiplayer modes.
Highly recommended!

Good, but it's not an easy game, especially singleplayer cups mode, you get 3 retries and have to come the top 3 of any race, if you place 4th even once out of the 4 races you lose and have to start over again, which is fine if you have the time and patience. CPU controlled cars are hard to compete with (think Mario Kart) even on easy and on slow mode.

Great game. but after I install the 1.1 patch it says 'game is already running' after I start the game? Have I done anything wrong?

There is a OpenGL remake of this game available which runs out of the box on Windows 10. It take a bit of doing to get the Dreamcast exculsive tracks but it's well worth it. You can get it here: https://rvgl.re-volt.io

I remember this game very well. I played it continually but lost the disc. When I tried to make a new disc after downloading, the files were successfully copied but verification failed three times. A real pity since I loved this game. Trying to navigate the cars around large objects was loads of fun. The museum was my favorite track.

Development
Re-Volt was developed by Acclaim Studios London and released by Acclaim Entertainment. It was originally released on the PlayStation, PC and Nintendo 64 in August 1999, and on the Dreamcast in December of that year.
In October 1999 Acclaim Entertainment released the Re-Volt Car Editor which allowed players to export and edit, or create new cars for the PC version using 3D studio. The editor was simply discovered in the Acclaim Studios London office and as such was released as an unapproved and unsupported piece of code.
In early 2000, a sequel titled Re-Volt 2 was announced and later changed to RC Revenge, and was released in August 2000 for the PlayStation, followed by an enhanced port of the game a few months later called RC Revenge Pro for PlayStation 2.
On October 3, 2013, the PC version of Re-Volt was re-released through digital distribution on GOG.com. The release was based on the community developed 1.2 Beta patch, with additional support for the original CD tracks as MP3 files. On January 14, 2014, the game was pulled on request from the developers of the 1.2 Beta patch due to a misunderstanding with publishers WeGo Interactive, in which the company used parts of the code written by the community without due consent.
